Hyphenated Domain Names – “Spammy” or Not?

As long as domain names are concerned, hyphens should be avoided in domain names. If your website is abode-realty.com, you will definitely lose some percentage of visitors to aboderealty.com. Do not use hyphen more than once and it would be considered as spammy.

There has also been a easy market for weak sites and will rank well because hyphenated domain name matches the search terms.

No skill is required to rank non-competitive phrases and if you have a site hrdegi.com, you can create a page "Harold Larry ranks well in Google". If your title and header tag matches the pahrase then inspite of many SEO errors in the page you are likely to rank well in Google.

In SEO, it's entirely competition and you can even rank well for things that no one wants . The main challenge lies in ranking for a phrase where others want to rank . Prefer to rank for a phrase which ranks #5 in Google with fair amount of searches every month than ranking for a phrase that ranks #1 with no competitive searches. Don't promote yourself by sharing of non competitive keywords which are able to rank well

Before clicking a website, the researchers look at the site URL.Even if you mange to rank well with a spammy URL,your CTR is reduced which devalues the ranking
