I did not know all these factors. If current trends continue some time in the future you may not need back links to your article to rank high in search results. All you will need is high author rank.

Excellent read.Thanks for sharing.Totally agree with your point of view because google is no more engaged in indexing the web page only by the back links it is trying to understand the website by the quality of the content being shared.

According to SEOmoz last panel of 26 SEOs that pontificates on what determines SERP factors – social signals constituted 7% of a ranking. That was 2011, I bet its increased by now! matt Cutts alsways plays his cards close to his non spammy chest!

The fact is we are going to take it slowly at first to sort of make sure that people are doing good things for rich snippets for example, you can imagine going crazy with rich snippets but it actually costs a click to go down if user didn’t like those sort of rich snippets.

Probably some webmasters abuse the links in the footer and make them like keyword stuffing.
