Domain names-what do i do with them?

If i have multiple domains that I own, what is the best way to utilize these to help my sites ranking and exposure?

1)redirect each domain to my main site?
2)create a site for each domain and link back as an affiliate?
3)something else?

Instead of focusing your resources on building multiple sites and redirecting them to your main site. just build one great site. Ignore all the other URLs you have unless you have something really worthy to put on them,
