Well Written Press release can make good traffic to your site within short period. I don't think that press release will boost page rank for any sites.

A webmaster... asking for an advice... actually, not literally it will help your site to get on top... you have to work for many strategies... like engaging into forums like this (signature links), blog commenting, link exchange to relevant sites, article submission, directory submission, search engine submission, press release, classified ads, social bookmarking, social networking etc...

There are many press release services available in the web.Please dont hire any scrap services who dont guarantee links...
Those services uses tools and softwares for article submission,press release submission,social bookmarking and many.. Honestly,everything should be done manaul and it should appear organic to search engines.
