Keyword density is a combination of the number of times a keyword or a keyword phrase, in proportion with other words, appears on a Web page. The more times the keyword appears in relation to the total number of on page words, the greater the overall keyword density. The more times that other words appear, the lower the proportion of keywords, resulting in a lighter keyword density.

The measure of how many times a keyword is repeated compared to the overall content of a web page. If a keyword was listed 5 times out of a word count of 50 the keyword density would be 10%.

Keyword Density is the measurement of how frequently any given keyword appears within a web page. Too high a density can result in a web page being classified as spam while too low a density will cause a page to not be indexed as well for the given keyword.

Keyword density is the percentage of words on a web page that match a specified set of keywords. In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. Due to the ease of managing keyword density, search engines usually implement other measures of relevancy to prevent unscrupulous webmasters from creating search spam through practices such as keyword stuffing.

Keyword "density" is how often you use your keywords in your text.

Take this paragraph for instance:

"Search engines like keywords in your text. Keywords are words that people would type into Google. Google has it's own keyword generator that you could use to help find your own keywords, if you want. You should choose relevant keywords, though!"

The various search engines, including Google, Yahoo, and MSN Search consider keyword density as part of their search algorithm. Each search engine has a different mathematical equation regarding the density of keywords that is rewarded with higher search ranking placement. There is also a different level of tolerance between the different search engines as to the degree of density permitted before a penalty is imposed.

Keyword density is a percentage ratio between full text appeared on the page and the targeted Keywords or Key-phrase.

Keyword Density = ([Key-phrase Count]*100)/(Total Word Count]

or, more researched or analyzed

Keyword Density = ([Key-phrase Count*No. of words in Key-phrase]*100)/(Total Word Count]

An ideal density for all search engines is 3-5% for all domain.

It is to measure how many times a certain keyword appears within a web page. Too much density can result in web page is classified as spam, but the density is too low to cause a site not indexed as a keyword.

Dear Friend,

keyword density is the ratio of the word that is being searched for (the keyword) against the total number of words appearing on your web page. If your keyword occurs only (say) once in a page of one thousand words, it has a lower keyword density than a keyword that occurs (say) four times in a page of similar length.

In my opinion keyword density is the number of times a particular phrase has been used on a page, and while most people would suggest that your phrases should be placed in your title, keyword tag, description tag, h1, h2, alt tags, title tags, url tags, and so many other areas that you can think of it only boils down to one thing.

Keyword density is the number of times your target keyword is found on the page. So if you have 500 words on your landing page and the keyword is repeated 25 times in theory your density should be about 5%. There are numerous free density checkers, just Google them.
