Redesign made to Gmail and Google Reader

Gmail and Google Reader will now get crisper and cleaner designs with some functionality added to Gmail. Reader is losing many of its social features in favour of Google+ integration

The preview format of the look and feel has been available for several months and the actual update is around the corner.The following features will now be available in Gmail very soon

1. Allow users to resize different panes within Gmail (including the chat and label panes).
2. Automatically adjust to fit any screen or window size.
3. Choose between three levels of compactness for their layout.
4. Pick one of several high-resolution themes.
5. Use an all-new conversation structure.

There has not been any news about the official release and given the current state of readiness we are looking at a November release.

Reader now Cleaner after Shedding Weight

Quite a number of functions are being sweeped by Google and user can expect the clean look that has implemented elsewhere.

Expect a different look in Google Reader and several functions are making it’s way out.To help those who want to migrate to alternative RSS services instead of getting started with Google+, Reader’s subscription export will now allow this social data to be exported as well.

Offline Versions of Gmail and Calendar launched

In order to increase the offline utility of the products,Google is launching a new Gmail web app and updates to Calendar and Docs.

Bringing the Gmail, Calendar and Docs offline has now become an essential step for improving productivity. Rajen Seth of Group Product Manager told “when the users need offline access to their email or calendar,they really need it”.

Gmail Offline is the new Chrome app that is launched by Google. With the help of this new app it is possible for accessing, managing and sending email while you are disconnected from the web.With the help of HTML5 standards ,the new app has lot of capabilities to make it work offline

The look and feel of the app is lot like a Gmail app for the tablets.The key features that is focused on the new app is including organizing, starring, lableling, archiving and responding to email.there is no access to Gmail labs feature and but it will get the job done.

Apart from the Gmail app for tablets,Google is rolling out the ability to access Calendar and Docs offline.This let you view the events and RSVP to appointments in calendar and view documents in docs.it does not have the ability to edit a document offline, but Google promises to find a make it work.

At the moment,the apps are available through Chrome Web Store and Google has also plans to release the offline apps to other browsers once they support the functionality.

Multiple Calls in Gmail at the same time

We all would be well aware of the old multiple line phones with all the buttons across the bottom. Now in Google’s Gmail we can access to more than one line at a time.

The news from the official Gmail Blog states that the new multi-call capability will let the user to pick another call at the same time and put the current caller on hold. The thing is that there is no music to entertain the first caller.

You will receive a notification on the current call and then it’s up to you whether you’re going to answer it or not. Through out this year US and Canada calls using the Gmail phone will be free and all these features work with Gmail’s phone, voice and video calls.

Google updates Gmail to become more quicker and simple

Google has introduced a new feature that makes Gmail service quicker than before. The new feature will send email in the background, and the user could do multitasking while the email is being sent. One should turn it on from the Labs tab in settings and Gmail will send your email silently and also allows you to check your inbox, compose new message and chat with people simultaneously. You could also send more than one mail at a time in the background. But make sure that you close your Gmail or shut down your computer only after the mail is sent otherwise you will lose your message.

New Feature in Gmail ” Smart Labels”

Google has added one more feature into their cart. Apart the one they have launched last year “Priority Box” which will automatically sort your incoming mails and leaves an option for priority messages, This new one titled “Smart Labels” will help you to classify and organize your email. In order to access the same you have to turn it on from the Labs tab in settings, post which it will automatically categorizes and labels your incoming Bulk, Notification and Forum messages. All the mass mails such as newsletter and promotional email will go into Bulk and gets filtered in your inbox by default. If you have already activated some filters and labels to organize your mail, you could replace it with Smart Labels.

Offline gmail – New in google Labs

Google is always setting out to include new stuff into their already existing huge features.In addition the latest information is that they now provide an opportunity for accessing gmail while offline.

In order to make use of this feature,we need to install Google Gears .Google gears is an open source software which enables storing data locally in a database.Also it enables web applications to communicate with desktop.Gears will download emails onto your desktop, and it will accumulate any actions that need web access to perform them next time you are connected to the net.

Once Google Gears is installed, we can see an Offline option under the Lab tab in Gmail’s settings. Choose Enable next to Offline gmail. Click the option “Save Changes”. Once the browser is reloaded, an ‘Offline 0.1′ link appears in the top-right corner of the main Gmail window where you will be asked to click this link to begin the installation.
