Google Says: URL Case Applies To Robots.txt Directives

Post by siteadmin »

Microsoft announced the company has opened up the Bing Content Submission API to all for site owners, publishers, and webmasters. Microsoft announced this over two years ago and while the company released the URL submission API a while ago, the content submission API has been in a private beta since then. That was until this past May when it was opened up as a public beta and then now it is open to all.

As a reminder, the URL submission API allows you to only submit URLs for crawling or re-crawling. It is now new and heck, I've been using the URL submission API here for a while, it works, and works well.

Open to all:
After expanding the beta version of this in May, Microsoft said “with an overwhelming response and great feedbacks from website owners who had adopted the API, we are pleased to announce that Bing Content Submission API is now open for all to implement and to start sending their content changes to Bing, not only to reach more relevant users on Bing but also to reduce bingbot crawl load on their sites.”

API documentation:
You can learn more about how to technically send this information to the Bing API within the Bing API docs. Here is a Code of a JSON request example.

JSON request sample:

Code: Select all

POST/webmaster/api.svc/json/SubmitContent?apikey=EEDECC1EA4AE341CC57365E075EBC8B6 HTTP/1.1
Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8
Host: ssl.bing.com

{
"siteurl":http://yoursite.com",
"url":"http://yoursite.com/url1",
"httpmessage":
"SFRUUC8xLjEgMjAwIE9LCkRhdGU6IFN1biwgMTAgT2N0IDIwMTcgMjM6MjY6MDcgR01UCkFjY2VwdC1SYW5NZXM6I

KSGVsbG8gd29ybGQh",
"structuredData":"",
"dynamicServing":"0",
}

JSON response sample:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Length: 10
Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8

On page SEO is like doing SEO at run time where as Off-page SEO is like a static process.
On Page SEO is a short term process whereas Off-page SEO is a long term process.
