In actuality, this is the gradient that we will be using for the text effect. After installing the font, select the Text tool, set 150px as the font size, and type the letter <strong>C.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a name=\"imageclose-180\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-180\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step7.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-180\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-180\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step7.gif\" alt=\"image-180\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Press <em>CTRL + ENTER<\/em>to release the tool. Click again with the  text tool and a new text layer will be created. Type the letter <strong>R<\/strong> and release the tool again by pressing <em>CTRL + ENTER <\/em><em><\/em>.  Do the same over and over until you have all the five letters on a  different text layer each:<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-181\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-181\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step8.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-181\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-181\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step8.gif\" alt=\"image-181\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Now we are going to arrange the letters to get the overlapped look of  the final effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>That should be fairly easy. Just select the <em>MOVE<\/em> tool, check  the <em>AUTO SELECT <\/em>option, and drag each letter closer to the  other and overlap them as much as you want.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-182\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-182\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step9.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-182\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-182\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step9.gif\" alt=\"image-182\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Go to the <em>LAYERS PALETTE<\/em> and select the layer with the letter <strong>C <\/strong>in it. Then choose <em>GRADIENT OVERLAY<\/em> from the Layer  Effects pop-up menu.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-183\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-183\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step10.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-183\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-183\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step10.gif\" alt=\"image-183\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>DON\u00b4T press <em>OK <\/em>yet. Remember to use the new gradient we have  already created some steps before:<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-184\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-184\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step11.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-184\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-184\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step11.gif\" alt=\"image-184\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now click on the <em>DROP SHADOW<\/em> Layer Effect and use the  following settings. <strong>Keep the window open, DON\u00b4T press <em>OK<\/em> yet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; \" title=\"papercraft-step12\" src=\"http:\/\/www.photoshoproadmap.com\/imagenes\/blog\/papertext\/papercraft-step12.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"442\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on the <em> STYLES<\/em> option on the top of the window and then  click on the <em>NEW STYLE<\/em> button and give it a name. The newly  created style will show last on the list of styles. Now you can press <strong>OK<\/strong> to close the <em>LAYER STYLES <\/em>window.:<a name=\"imageclose-185\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-185\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step13.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-185\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-185\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step13.gif\" alt=\"image-185\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To apply the new style to each letter you must select a layer <strong>(1) <\/strong>and then click on the new style on located on the <em>STYLES  PALETTE <\/em><strong>(2)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-186\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-186\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step14.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-186\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-186\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step14.gif\" alt=\"image-186\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Repeat the same for each letter. Don\u00b4t worry about the results. They  will look incorrect but we will deal with that later. You will end up  with something like this:<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-187\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-187\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step16.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-187\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-187\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step16.gif\" alt=\"image-187\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Although the effect is complete, the simulated paper cuts don\u00b4t look  good. Let\u00b4s correct that. Go to the <em>LAYERS PALETTE<\/em>, select the  layer with the letter <strong>R<\/strong> and click on the tiny arrow at  the right <strong>(1).<\/strong> This will display all the Layer Effects  of the text layer. Double click on the <em>GRADIENT OVERLAY<\/em> effect <strong>(2).<\/strong> This will open the <em>LAYER STYLES<\/em> window displaying the Gradient  Overlay settings.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-188\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-188\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step17.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-188\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-188\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step17.gif\" alt=\"image-188\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Move the <em>LAYER STYLE <\/em>window until you can see the letter <strong>R<\/strong>.  You should do this because you can only edit the gradient position of  the letter <strong>R <\/strong>while the <em>LAYER STYLE<\/em> window is  open.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-189\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-189\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step18.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-189\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-189\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step18.gif\" alt=\"image-189\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First, type -90 in the Angle setting of the Gradient Overlay window or  you can also drag the gradient angle selector until it reads -90 degrees You  will see how the letter <strong>R <\/strong>gradient has changed its  rotation and it is vertical instead of horizontal. In the next step we  will move the gradient a little bit to the left to make it look better.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-190\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-190\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step19.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-190\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-190\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step19.gif\" alt=\"image-190\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>You should still have the <em>LAYER STYLES<\/em> window open.<\/strong> If not, then open it as explained a couple of steps above. Now check at  the top of the screen and you will se a message that says <em>Click and  drag to reposition the gradient<\/em>. This means that while the <em>LAYER  STYLES<\/em> window is open, you will be able to exactly click and drag  the gradient inside the letter <strong>R<\/strong>, and reposition it at  will.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-191\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-191\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step21.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-191\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-191\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step22.gif\" alt=\"image-191\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you are done, close the <em>LAYER STYLES <\/em>window. You image  should now look like this one:<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-192\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-192\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step221.gif\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-192\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-192\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/papercraft-step221.gif\" alt=\"image-192\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To reach the desired result, you should continue tweaking the rest of  the gradients until they look like the final result. Any color you want. You will be able to change it later.
