I chose to use a picture of a house I found on the web. You can find very nice pics for free, just look around !<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-45\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-45\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/1-740323.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-45\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-45\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/1-740327.jpg\" alt=\"image-45\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first step is to isolate the house by putting it on a separate layer and by erasing the rest.<\/p>\n<p>In this example I used the polygonal lasso tool for the house, and a soft eraser for the bushes.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-46\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-46\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/2-794853.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-46\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-46\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/2-794874.jpg\" alt=\"image-46\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now you need a new background. You can either find a good pic, either paint one yourself.<\/p>\n<p>I chose the former because it is less time consuming, and the result is far better than what I would have gotten had I painted a background myself. I found this image on the web, unfortunately I do not remember the site I got it from.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-47\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-47\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/3-744311.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-47\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-47\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/3-744313.jpg\" alt=\"image-47\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Put the sky behind the house (by putting the sky layer under the house layer), and apply a little perspective effect to give more depth to the sky, make it less flat.<\/p>\n<p>Here the house picture was taken from a low angle, which makes our work easier.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-48\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-48\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/4-704427.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-48\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-48\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/4-704430.jpg\" alt=\"image-48\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now look at the edges of the house. They still are the color of the original sky. We&#8217;ll fix that.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-49\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-49\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/5-743354.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-49\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-49\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/5-743357.jpg\" alt=\"image-49\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using the magic wand tool, select the empty zone of the house layer. Then, Select > Modify > Expand, to make your selection wider. Pick a value that includes the zone we need to color correct.<br \/>In the menu : Image > Adjust > Hue \/ Saturation and color correct the edges by matching them with the color of the roof.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-50\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-50\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/6-778263.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-50\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-50\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/6-778266.jpg\" alt=\"image-50\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Still using Hue \/ Saturation and also Color Balance, adjust the colors of the house and sky layers so that they perfectly blend together.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-51\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-51\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/7-728159.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-51\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-51\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/7-728161.jpg\" alt=\"image-51\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we want to get rid of that palm tree that hides a part of the house. That tree has nothing to do there since we want to create a morbid mood.<\/p>\n<p>This is probably the most delicate step because we have to hand paint the missing part of the house. For that I mostly used the clone stamp tool, tool that allows you to paint something using another part of the picture for reference.<br \/>For instance, the tiles located between the lower and middle windows were painted using similar tiles of the house, using the clone stamp tool.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-52\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-52\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/8-772651.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-52\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-52\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/8-772655.jpg\" alt=\"image-52\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Why not add a lightning bolt to make the scene a little more disturbing ?<br \/>Using the simple non feathered brush, this is simple. Draw your lightning, duplicate the layer, and blur the copies to make the lightning glow.<br \/>Then, use the Dodge tool to brighten the clouds from where the lightning is originating.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-53\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-53\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/9-723909.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-53\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-53\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/9-723912.jpg\" alt=\"image-53\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Paint dead trees behind the house, or use existing ones from pictures. Of course, make the colors and luminosity match.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-54\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-54\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/10-766885.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-54\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-54\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/10-766888.jpg\" alt=\"image-54\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fun part, now ! Let&#8217;s break down the house. Well, not all of it.<br \/>To make it look older, I added a hole in the rood, painted with brushes.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-55\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-55\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/11-703602.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-55\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-55\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/11-703605.jpg\" alt=\"image-55\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t be afraid to add broken parts ! The house is supposed to still be standing, so don&#8217;t go too far.<br \/>You can see that I broke a wooden beam, a pipe, a board, another part of the roof, and a window. When you break something, use the clone stamp tool to fill in the empty space you created.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-56\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-56\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/12-748161.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-56\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-56\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/12-748164.jpg\" alt=\"image-56\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Make it look dirty. First of all, the windows. I used a non regular brush and painted the windows with a matte color. Then, change the transfer mode of the dirt layer to make sure that dirt and windows blend nicely together. For this example I chose the Luminosity mode.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"imageclose-57\"><div class=\"lb-album\"><a href=\"#image-57\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/13-792699.jpg\"  ><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>              \r\n<a href=\"#imageclose-57\" class=\"css3lightbox-close\">\r\n\t\t\t\t   <div class=\"lb-overlay\" id=\"image-57\">\r\n                   <img src=\"http:\/\/www.searchenginegenie.com\/web-design\/uploaded_images\/13-792702.jpg\" alt=\"image-57\">\r\n                   <\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Repeat that step, only do it on the entire house.
