Long URLs with keywords has been long used as a tactics for search engine optimization, Many webmasters, SEOs, site owners think long URLs help with keywords help a lot in search engine ranking, The fact it is not true, Search engines do index URLs but keywords in URLs have very less value in search engine rankings,



Users have to concentrate on what is good for users than what is good for search engines when it comes to keywords in URLs, if the keywords in URLs help users it is worth using them,

I'm only guessing - BUT are the keywords in the url only good for the highlighting of the keywords - to the searcher.

They would think that the entry is more relevant to them - giving the page more chance of a click through.

Like in adwords where the keywords in the title are emphasised? Click through rates are increased thereby lowering the cost per click.
