The Honeymoon period of New sites: - SEO tip of the day dec 4 2007

Many have a question. A site that is newly launched and has some good backlinks and contents suddenly boosts into top 10 rankings for a short period of time. After sometime it just disappears many people call this the sandbox phenomenon where the new site will never comeback for few months where it might be tested and finally released to rank on top.

So what is this honeymoon period for new sites or newly indexed sites?
Based on our experience working on many client websites we have seen the same phenomenon. A new sites suddenly shows up all over google top results and then just vanishes. This is just a temporary fun for new sites. We feel its mostly caused by filters applied to google's search results. Google search results are made based on trust a site has over a period time gained over backlinks and quality of information it possesses. So when a new site shows up google doesn't apply any filters and let the new site rank well and then when the trust algorithm kicks on that site it just boots out of the top results for a considerable period of time. During this time the site in question is being tested for trust based on quality of improvement of information on the site as well as the quality of backlinks gained by that site.

So we recommend don't not to get excited when a new site shows nor to get disappointed when site disappears from search results. Just wait patiently till the site has the trust it deserves to be in top results of google search results.
