Curtains Drawn on Yahoo Site Explorer
I was a little surprised on this development and I thought let’s see whether anyone has seized the moment by providing the same service free and I came across this site backlinkwatch(check screen shot below)
One can see the site once you submit your url you get a detailed report of the backlinks form other domain, anchor text used and obl. It’s a different interface and would need to build the reputation in order to reach the heights of a sensation like Yahoo. I also came across a post where it was mentioned that SEOMOZ has an open site explorer but that’s only for pro members and also there were more sites listed.
The next thing I wanted to check was the Bing webmaster tools. Now I found it very similar to Google webmaster tools here are some screen shots
This is the default page once one logs in
Then we have to click on the add site button and type our website URL
Initially one has to fill the preferences pop up displayed below
So let’s all hear the message from Bing below
Yes that’s all we have got to say now Welcome Bing webmaster tools hope index explorer and your analytics provide us with more potential data for our website development.
Yahoo Revamps Its Search Page With Tabs and Filtering
Yahoo has launched redesigned search result pages lately. The fresh, simpler look includes tabs below the search box, enabling the users to view images, video, or news or other results. In addition, Yahoo also lets one to filter searches by time and trending searches.
These changes appear to be a yearly tradition at Yahoo, as they rolled out updates around this time in the past 2 years.
One can see a new addition directly beneath the search box i.e. tabs on all Yahoo searches.
Clicking on these tabs will take you to vertical search options that will differ depending on the query. Yahoo returns a varying number of tabs for any permutation of Web, Images, Video, News, Blogs, Shopping, Sports, and Finance, all followed by and a More link to a drop down menu consisting of additional hidden tabs.
Yahoo also filters by time (anytime, past day, past week, past month), and also displays what related searches are trending.
