Google shares ad wealth with videographers, Tuesday, October 31, 2006
   
 

Google has recently started to share advertising revenue with the maker of a popular video clip in an innovative deal, which could drive up the costs of competing in the hatchling video sharing sector. Now the search company has also agreed to turn over most advertising money generated by the latest video from Fritz Grobe and Stephen Volts, maker of "The Diet Coke & Mentos Experiment" said according to Peter Chane, a senior product manager for Google Video.



Other than that Metacafe, one of the top 10 Video-sharing sites, also announced that it would pay $5 to video maker for every 1,000 times video is watched.

Google comes up with Blog Alerts,
   
 

Now google allows its user to set up alerts that can cover blogs specifically. User can select news, groups or other web alerts such as comprehensive which covers everything.



On the other hand, segmenting user's sources for information could have some interesting uses - perhaps sending specific information appearing in an existing blog to a person and also the information appearing in Google Group to the other.

Google Announces Winner of Global Code Jam 2006, Monday, October 30, 2006
   
 

Petr Mitrichev of Russia was awarded as a first winner of Global Code Jam (GCJ) competition, announced today by Google Inc. He received a prize worth $10,000. Last year this award was won by Marek Cygan of Poland.

Second and third prize were won by Ying Wang a citizen of US and Andrey Stankevich respectively. Ying Wang received a cash of $5,000. This competition was purely based on the programming done with Java, C++, and c#, Python or VB.NET.

Google Earth now with space program, Thursday, October 26, 2006
   
 

The launch of new images and features for Google Earth was lately a part of the festivities at the X Prize Cup held at Las Cruces, N.M. on October 20 to 21. Several historic and futuristic 3D space images from the Google Earth society were posted mainly for the X Prize Cup. Plus, the first same-day image of the area was then posted on Google Earth and a live Webcam of the festival was available.

This animation shows the Apollo 11 space capsule to track the moon. Apollo 11, of course, was the vehicle, which brought Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon and home.

Launch of Google Politics,
   
 

Last month, Google had announced that it will form a political action committee to act in the political kingdom on behalf of the company's interests. The group, labeled NetPAC, is now starting to endorse candidates running for office in the coming November elections.

"We started this NetPAC in order to be able to sustain office-holders and candidates who are capable of sharing our vision of promoting and preserving the Internet as a free and also open platform for information, communication and innovation." said by Ricardo Reyes, Google's senior manager of global communication.

Google Launches Election Guide,
   
 

Google on Monday launched an election guide, which provides information from all 435 congressional districts.

The content is accessible by clicking on the place mark for every district on the Google Earth, the search engine's mapping service. The guide for the Nov. 7 elections is obtainable under the "layers" tab of the Google Earth sidebar. Google launches customizable search service,
   
 

Google today has launched a new search service, which enables users to restrict searches to groups of any specific pages or websites. The Google Custom Search Engine is especially designed to enable users to make their own customized search engine focused on any content they may like.

As an option, Custom Search Engines could also be monetized by way of Google AdSense program to make revenue. Google now plans to expand the offering internationally in the upcoming weeks.

Yahoo! Launches Indichat Plug-in, Monday, October 23, 2006
   
 

Yahoo! India has launched the Indichat plug-in, which enables users to chat in Hindi and Tamil without any special language keyboard. All users need to do is to load the Side Panel plug-in, and then start chatting in Hindi and Tamil.

Yahoo! India now also offers other plug-ins that facilitates chat in other Indian languages like Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Malayalam as well. A user with any language keyboard could now chat on Yahoo Messenger 8.0 in that language. The service would soon be rolled out in the other Indian languages as well.

Google continues to amaze the market,
   
 

Google posted 70% increase in its revenues of US by $2.69 billion and also recorded a whopping 92% increase in its net profit of US$733 million when compared to the previous quarter.

It is rapidly becoming more globalize and giving its access to the wider market. The international component of Google's revenue is growing faster than domestic US market. Revenues from outside US were 44% in Q3 compared to 39% Q3 2005.

Yahoo to buy AdInterax, Wednesday, October 18, 2006
   
 

Yahoo now agrees to buy AdInterax, which helps companies make and also manage online marketing ads that incorporate animation and video, at undisclosed amount. Yahoo says it will provide help to afford rich advertising to be created and good campaign for marketers.

Google exposes the plan for solar array,
   
 

Google has now chosen EI Solutions to build up a 1.6 MW solar power system for the Mountain View location. The array needs to produce enough electricity to power 1000 California homes, but would generate only 30% of Google's power needs. Savings would only be around $393,000 per year or $30 million over its lifetime.

The system costed Google $3 million dollars, but it would pay for itself within 15 years according to EI Solutions.

Yahoo expands video lineup with CBS's, Monday, October 16, 2006
   
 

CBS's television stations would now begin providing local news clips to Yahoo coming this week in a precedent setting partnership, which gives the local broadcasters a bigger place on the Internet and provides the Web Company more video content. Local News Clips is going in Revenue Sharing Deal.

Yahoo would be selling ads linked to the 16 CBS-owned stations' reports on a national basis and the companies would split the revenue, by the director of the companies.

Google has now made its word processing and spreadsheet programs accessible for free to all its users, marking the Internet search leader's the latest effort to offer an alternative to Microsoft's dominant software applications.

Yahoo! makes online time capsule, Saturday, October 14, 2006
   
 

Yahoo! is lately looking to make and also believes it would be the world's largest time capsule in history. Yahoo! users are offered to visit the site timecapsule.yahoo.com. Content could be submitted online to the website and could also include writings, movies, and photos.

After 30 days, the site's contents would be saved on a digital archive and then sealed. A copy of the content would also be given to the Smithsonian for archives. Yahoo! plans on opening the content of the time capsule by 2020 that would also mark the company's 25th anniversary.

Google has now combined its online word processing and spreadsheet applications through a common line with single sign-in and data repository. Launch has been devised to make Google's personal efficiency software simpler to use for user.

The launch is contributing to something called as a "feature, not product" initiative. The goal is just to simplify Google's collection of services, and would apparently see Google's calendar added to its spreadsheet and word processing.

The worlds largest search engine has just purchased the worlds largest online broadcaster, where millions meet over the internet to watch and share their videos.

Google Launches Blog and Site to Showcase Its Mac Services,
   
 

Google has launched a blog to keep Mac (Message Authentication Code) users update of new services for the Apple Computer machine. In addition, the search engine group has created a new site to showcase all of Google's applications for the Mac. It offers all the "news, tips and insider stories about Macs at Google.

Yahoo Structure Updates Coming Up Soon, Friday, October 06, 2006
   
 

Yahoo would soon be introducing the new sponsored search. With it Yahoo wants their advertisers to know about a few constant changes that are about to take place. In their newest journal edition of "On Target", Yahoo noted a few key point advertiser needs.

1. Account upgrades are now expected to be released in this fourth quarter of 2006. At this time some of the account terminology would be changed.

2. Listings would now be known as 'Ads' and would also be joined into Ad Groups (not to be confused with Google AdGroups). This would allow them for bidding based on the full group, or by any individual keyword.

3. Categories would now be known as 'Campaigns' that might consist of one or more 'Ad Groups'.

Google Launches Notification Service for Blog Search,
   
 

Google this Thursday had launched a notification service, which makes it easier for Blogger or blog-hosting services to notify the search engine for new blogs or changes to existing ones. Although Google monitors other pinging services, informing service directly can surely make it faster to get an update in the company's index.

Google actually provides a manual process for submitting the URL of a new or any modified blog, and application programming interfaces, or APIs, for those who desire to automate the process.

Yahoo! and HP agreement,
   
 

A recent agreement between Yahoo! And HP would now feature the prominent search engine being pre-installed as the homepage on millions of computers.

The agreement means that HP would have to set up desktop and the notebook PCs such that Yahoo's search engine appears in the yahoo toolbar of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. There is also talk of a co-branded Yahoo! HP toolbar that would allow consumers access to search, mail, news and a range of other Yahoo! services.

Google launches search service for computer code,
   
 

Google is now introducing a new search service - strictly for computer programmers. The Web search leader said late on Wednesday that it is introducing Google Code Search, a site, which simplifies software developers search for programming code to improve existing software or to create new programs.

Searchers could seek out specific programming terms or the computer language used and it will dive deep into compressed code to locate specific features. Users also could narrow the search to find software code based on exact licensing needs, which is a big deal in warding off future patent litigation.

Google launches Ajax search tools, Wednesday, October 04, 2006
   
 

Google has exposed version 1.0 of the Google Ajax Search API. It tool allows site operators to display Google Search and other search results on their websites where previously search results were displayed on a new page.

The Asynchronous JavaScript and XML API could offer results from Google Search, News, Maps, Video and other Blog search features.

The API also offers a maximum of eight results to prevent users from launching their own search engine. Search results would consist of sponsored listings and advertisers would not be charged for click-through during the current test phase.

Google gives Gadgets to everyone,
   
 

04 October 2006 - Google has taken the extraordinary step of offering its gadgets (mini-applications) for the use on personal websites and for blogs as well. Unlike before now user can simply copy and paste the HTML code for the application into their website.

Google by now has a gallery of more than 1200 Google Gadgets that are dynamic applications, which let users check the weather, get news headlines, or even play games. There is no end to the sorts of things, which developers dream up for the mini-apps.

Yahoo Opens Up Mail Source Code, Tuesday, October 03, 2006
   
 

Yahoo said over the weekend that it is now opening up its market-leading mail service technology in order to permit developers to innovate on top of the service and also to build new applications. The move is called one of the largest code giveaways ever before.

This will surely allow developers to build new user interfaces or methods to display a user's incoming mail. Yahoo says it cannot create all the applications, which user require; thus, opening up the code was a logical move. Google's new office at New York,
   
 

Google has recently opened its new office in the Big Apple at 111 Eighth Ave., in the heart of the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan, New York.

Google would tend to occupy about 300,000 square feet on three floors of the building. Built in 1932 for the New York Port Authority, the building is a home to such companies as Global Crossing and also for Barnesandnoble.com.
