About Google Product Search

Google Product Search was launched in Beta on December 12, 2002. Google Product Search is a new service from Google that makes it easy to find information about products for sale online. Now there is no need for your customers to browse the entire web looking for a specific item. They can just go to froogle and all the items available for sale will be listed there.

Google Product Search indexes specific products from a multitude of e-commerce sites on the web. The search results include a picture of the item for sale (if available), the price of the item, the store where the item is for sale, the category, and a brief description grabbed from the store\'s site.

Based on the Google algorithm and database, Google Product Search enables your customers easily find specific products for sale all over the web. It also enables them to search for general search phrases and will return products for sale that relate to your query. This is where search engine optimization appears and Search Engine Genie helps you here.

The normal process for being listed on Google Product Search is that you must first sign up with an account through Google. Then Google requires you to create a data feed containing your products, saved in a specific format, and then upload this file to their server. The process can be quite time-consuming. Search Engine Genie is proficient in doing this complicated task easily!

What does it mean to you?

As an extension of the Google search engine that millions of people around the globe use daily to research products before they purchase, listing your product in Froogle is a free way to extend the reach of your marketing efforts to millions of customers.

The Google Product Search Engine itself is organized into Categories. There are 14 categories. Shoppers can either drill-down on any of them or search directly by keyword. Shoppers can also limit your search to a specific category.

Google Product Search obtains listings for products from vendors and from scouring the web. When Google runs across a page that appears to sell something, it feeds the information it collects to Google Product Search. Vendors don\'t pay to have their products included in Google Product Search\'s search results. However, they can purchase sponsored links, which appear along the right side of Google Product Search\'s results pages.

When Google Product Search finds more than one product from a site, it includes the link "See all results from vendor." Limiting the number of results from a given site to just one ensures products from a single vendor will not dominate your search results and that Google Product Search provides pages from a variety of sites.
