Google ‘Click to Call’ now in India
Google has now announced the launch of its AdWords “Click-to-call” feature in India. These are online ads planned for users to speak directly to the advertisers they may find on Google Search results page over the phone and is free of cost. It could also be identified by way of green telephone handset located near the text of advertisement.
After entering the phone number, one needs to click on “Connect for Free” so that the user gets direct call from the advertiser. Google says, “Click-to-call” offers speed and convenience, and it would also protect user privacy by blocking the user’s phone number from the advertiser.
Sky signs up Google
Sky and Google had recently announced that they are going to work together for developing more content for Sky’s broadband customers and to share advertising revenue from this.
Sky would be creating its own video site on the lines of YouTube, using technology by Google. Then Google would also provide access to applications such as contact management and effective calendar services plus instant messaging.
MSN revamps travel channel
MSN has now announced that it is overhauling its unique travel channel, it offers the users a mix of exclusive content, travel information and also a holiday booking service provided by Expedia.
The revamp site gives better platform to engage with users who travel frequently and book their holidays online. Advertisers would now be able to engage their users on the channel message boards and place branded messaging on the web site.
Yahoo! project connects Filipino migrant workers to families
Yahoo had recently launched a new plan to connect eight million overseas Filipino workers with their families. This global research study stated that about 33 percent of Filipinos already believe that instant messaging applications of Yahoo have helped them improving their relationships with their families.
According to Southeast Asia reported that the Philippines are the third largest contribution to the global Yahoo digital time capsule project. Today there are approximately 14 to 15 million Filipino Internet users, with more than half using Yahoo! services at least once a month. Yahoo! Videos is an added advantage for Filipinos. Yahoo will soon be up with more news and tools that helps family communication.
Yahoo goes with VSNL’s Voice
Yahoo! has recently announced that it would use VSNL’s peering and termination services as a chief global Internet company for further exchange of high quality VoIP traffic on a wide basis and offer premium international retail call termination for Yahoo’s voice services.
Preferably, Yahoo would use VSNL’s International Tele globe voice peering and termination known as Teleglobe VoIPLink to build up interoperability among VoIP networks and terminate traffic any where in the world.
Google offer takes on PayPal
The Internet search giant Google is now offering merchants free usage of its online payment service at it squares off against eBay’s biggest market PayPal.
Google had introduced Checkout in June with offers such as free ad credits for merchants. During November it offered discounts to customers, $10 off $30 on purchases. With the recent idea it will allow the merchants pay a variety of fees to use the service. PayPal normally charges 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction on sales up $3, 000 per month. However Google’s fee is 2% of the sale plus 20 cents, less if the merchant is a Google advertiser.
MSN goes mobile in Malaysia
The Malaysian mobile operator recently announced a deal with enterprise infrastructure vendor Sybase 365 to deliver two of MSN’s popular Web-based communication service, Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger to eight million Maxis subscribers in the country.
The service, applies to postpaid and prepaid Maxis customers only, and relies on the industry standard short message (SMS) for further content delivery.
Media General Links Career Sites to Yahoo
Media General Inc., initiator of Tampa Tribune and Winston-Salem Journal had recently stated that it is planning to post online career sections of 25 of its daily newspapers to Yahoo Inc.’s HotJobs Platform.
Yahoo is already with Tampa Tribune career content and now it would eventually host all Media General’s career advertising as well. All career related advertising sold by its newspaper Web sites would now be posted on Yahoo HotJobs. By this deal, Media General becomes a part of group for about 200 newspapers, which links their career content through Yahoo’s HotJobs site.
FOX News and Yahoo team up
FOX news will now provide business news video to Yahoo Finance with a new co-branded service known as “FOX Business Now”.
The initiative that exposed today on Yahoo! Finance brings FOX News business programming to the internet’s number financial place, and, which also includes nine two-minute market reports every week day. The agreement between FOX and Yahoo Finance is a very important step that Yahoo has taken towards the growing demand for business news video and it would even more expand market leading position.
Yahoo partners with Reuters on eyewitness pictures
Yahoo Inc., is now in partnership with Reuters, which is inviting the public to contribute eyewitness photos and videos of recent news events. Another latest move also concentrates on spot journalists.
Yahoo is also planning to run selected images displayed by users as a part of topical packages on Yahoo News. Yahoo News currently offers news from dozens of official news society including Associated Press, CNN and Reuters.
