Personalized Google searches for special needs
The latest service provided by Google places more control on the hands of webmasters and individual people, giving us the tools needed to generate deep searches at the drop of a hat.
Google would allow its search engine to be much customized, enabling a Web site owner to focus the site’s vast information into search results more pertinent for the users. Along with its ability to make money through ads, a Web site owner could also change the look to match their own site.
Google’s new release – web toolkit
Google engineers are striving to put a finishing touch on a new release of the Google Web Toolkit (GWT), version 1.2. Major features would include:
- Support for MacOSX as a first class advance platform
- Support for adding arbitrary widgets to a Tree
- Greatly improved act on refresh (to speed up the development cycle)
- A new HTTP section to let modification of asynchronous requests
Google launches customizable search service
Google today has launched a new search service, which enables users to restrict searches to groups of any specific pages or websites. The Google Custom Search Engine is especially designed to enable users to make their own customized search engine focused on any content they may like.
As an option, Custom Search Engines could also be monetized by way of Google AdSense program to make revenue. Google now plans to expand the offering internationally in the upcoming weeks.
Yahoo! Launches Indichat Plug-in
Yahoo! India has launched the Indichat plug-in, which enables users to chat in Hindi and Tamil without any special language keyboard. All users need to do is to load the Side Panel plug-in, and then start chatting in Hindi and Tamil.
Yahoo! India now also offers other plug-ins that facilitates chat in other Indian languages like Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Malayalam as well. A user with any language keyboard could now chat on Yahoo Messenger 8.0 in that language. The service would soon be rolled out in the other Indian languages as well.
Google continues to amaze the market
Google posted 70% increase in its revenues of US by $2.69 billion and also recorded a whopping 92% increase in its net profit of US$733 million when compared to the previous quarter.
It is rapidly becoming more globalize and giving its access to the wider market. The international component of Google’s revenue is growing faster than domestic US market. Revenues from outside US were 44% in Q3 compared to 39% Q3 2005.
Yahoo to buy AdInterax
Yahoo now agrees to buy AdInterax, which helps companies make and also manage online marketing ads that incorporate animation and video, at undisclosed amount. Yahoo says it will provide help to afford rich advertising to be created and good campaign for marketers.
Till now AdInterax doing business as developed tools for building floating animations, expandable banners and streaming video. This also offers technology tracking and reporting capabilities.
Google exposes the plan for solar array
Google has now chosen EI Solutions to build up a 1.6 MW solar power system for the Mountain View location. The array needs to produce enough electricity to power 1000 California homes, but would generate only 30% of Google’s power needs. Savings would only be around $393,000 per year or $30 million over its lifetime.
The system costed Google $3 million dollars, but it would pay for itself within 15 years according to EI Solutions.
Yahoo expands video lineup with CBS’s
CBS’s television stations would now begin providing local news clips to Yahoo coming this week in a precedent setting partnership, which gives the local broadcasters a bigger place on the Internet and provides the Web Company more video content. Local News Clips is going in Revenue Sharing Deal.
Yahoo would be selling ads linked to the 16 CBS-owned stations’ reports on a national basis and the companies would split the revenue, by the director of the companies.
Google Docs & Spreadsheets free for all its users
Google has now made its word processing and spreadsheet programs accessible for free to all its users, marking the Internet search leader’s the latest effort to offer an alternative to Microsoft’s dominant software applications.

Yahoo! makes online time capsule
Yahoo! is lately looking to make and also believes it would be the world’s largest time capsule in history. Yahoo! users are offered to visit the site timecapsule.yahoo.com. Content could be submitted online to the website and could also include writings, movies, and photos.
After 30 days, the site’s contents would be saved on a digital archive and then sealed. A copy of the content would also be given to the Smithsonian for archives. Yahoo! plans on opening the content of the time capsule by 2020 that would also mark the company’s 25th anniversary.
