Chrome,Google’s web browser celebrates it’s third birthday and the milestone was represented by an interactive infographic and the list of improvements to the product in the official blog.

The browser has surpassed Firefox to become the second most popular browser behind IE in UK and has great market share than expected in many countries. Chrome’s adoption rate is nothing short of impressive compared to the great starts IE and Firefox had.

Chrome also changed the way web browsers are built and released making it tougher for its competitor to rethink their strategies.It took three years for Firefox to go from version 3 to version 4.

Bigger and Faster Photos in Facebook

A new version of the Photo App has been rolled out by Facebook with speed improvements and larger images. The photos that you share are now bigger and loads twice faster allowing you access to more detailed images.

The photos uploaded in the profile will also be displayed at this higher resolution. Facebook is also rolling out a new revamped photo viewer which takes up more screen space and reduces clutter so that users can focus on the photo and nothing else.

Earlier in February,Facebook rolled out it’s revamped photos interface with the lightbox UI and support for high resolution photos.

Yahoo Traffic Stats in Bing webmaster Tools

Bing has recently announced that their webmaster tools will show traffic stats from Yahoo directly in the Webmaster tool reports.

Duane Forrester,senior program manager for Bing Webmaster Tools said “Data integration is important because it gives you a true sense of what Bing is serving and where you are being served by Bing,”

We can able to view this integrated date by clciking on the Traffic Summary Report or Page Traffic report under the Traffic Tab.Due to this combined traffic data from both Yahoo and Bing,impressions and clicks will both appear to go up.There will aslo be a change in the Click throgh Rates or CTR since they are a ratio of each other.

The data integration began on August 12th and was completed on August 16th to completely populate the accounts.Site owners will not be able to select individual properties to view the data separetely.

It may be the end of the road for Yahoo Site Explorer but bing won’t comment on Yahoo tools. Yahoo’s search results are now being powered by Bing in seven more countries.Bing will power will power Yahoo Maktoob in several Arabian speaking countries in Middle East and North Africa.

New Left Hand Navigation in Facebook

A new restructured left hand navigation that includes bookmarks and notifications for pages, groups and apps is being rolled out by Facebook. the changes were announced last week to increase the popularity of Facebook apps.

The new navigation comprises of four groups namely Favorites, Pages, Groups and Apps. The Pages and Groups sections each list the two most popular Pages and Groups you use along with the notifications number to the right hand side. Favorites includes direct links to popular Facebook features such as News Feed or Events.

Changes have also been made to the “More” menu item. Previously you could see a full list of your groups by clicking the “More” button at the bottom of each menu set. Clicking “More” it takes you to a new page where you can add different Pages and Groups to your “Favorites” section for quick and easy access. It was in February 2010 a major Facebook redesign was implemented.

The new web motion and interaction design tool Adobe Edge by Adobe was released for public preview last week. Adobe Edge is the first professional grade HTML-5 editing tool which enables users to create content using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.

Photo Sharing service rolled out by Twitter

Twitter Photo Sharing

Twitter has rolled out it’s photo sharing and uploading service which is now available to all users. This feature has already made it’s debut in early June which allows users to ad images to their tweets. Users will now find a camera on the bottom of “What’s Happening” box on twitter.com

Clicking the camera icon will let users to select a picture to upload which they can preview before sending it to the world. Tweets containing photos include a link to pic.twitter.com along with the thumbnail of the attached picture.

This feature has been rolled out in advance to the launch of Apple iOS5 which features twitter integration essentially making default social network for all iOS users. The mobile upload feature in Android and iOS apps is yet to be rolled out but it will be available soon.

The new photo sharing service is powered by Photobucket which provides the hosting for user uploaded photos. In the recent past there has been a lot of criticism for competing with third party party services built on its platform.

Google News readers in the United States would have noticed the new feature in the right hand column called “Editor Picks” which displays the original content that publishers have chosen from their publications. This has been the new change from Google adding variety to their presence of stories and multimedia on Google News.

The “Editor’s Picks” displays the best content that includes local and national publishers of news organizations. Unlike Google News which relies on algorithms, Editors Picks are provided by the publishers and not by the Google. A set of Publisher Feeds of popular newspapers like The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, The Guardian are available . The feeds displayed are chosen based on a variety of factors including your news preferences.

The “Editors Picks” were experimented last year itself and based on the recent experiment there has been a positive response from the readers and publishers. Google also encourages news organizations which are interested to contact their help center to get started.

Google on Thursday have introduced a tool for searching hotels and it has joined the list of sites like Kayak, Expedia and Hotels.com. The new hotel finder search is in the early stages of development and is available only in the United States.With the help of ‘Hotel Search’ it allows people search hotels in various cities,save those interest them and book reservations

There are talks that Google may change the way of existing search results when it enters new business.Google has clearly said that it does not practice favoritism for websites but gives the user the best result whether or not it is a Google Service.

Sites like Expedia and Hotels.com provide Google with price and availability information.Google also links to hotel’s own website.The hotel price ads,as Google calls them, also show up on Google maps and main search engine.

Google shows whether a price is a good deal or more than most hotels in the area. It also provides the users to save hotels they like to shortlist. Hotelfinder shows information,photos,customer reviews and star ratings from Google places.

Google has planned to invest more money in travel search search tools so let’s wait and see what more they are going to introduce .

iCloud Beta launched by Apple

iCloud,Apple’s beta version of new suite of media streaming and cloud based services has been unveiled. The beta version is available is available to all users with an Apple Id. The features of the ICloud include web based version of Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find my IPhone and IWork.

iCloud is accessible through iCloud.com using iOS5 or Mac OS X Lion. iTunes Match is not included in Apple’s cloud music services. The first 5GB of storage is free and an addition of 10GB will cost $20. 20GB and 50GB will cost $40 and $100 respectively. Apple’s services are costlier than Amazon which gives 20GB space for just $20 and allows users to store unlimited amount of music for free.

The initial conclusion from Mashable is that iCloud beta is a modified version of MobileMe.The addition of iWork support is a welcomed addition though, as is the simplistic and universal interface for all of Apple’s cloud services.
