Yahoo Exposes Mobile Web Platform

Yahoo Inc. is now planning to overdo Google and other competitive search engines on mobile phones. Yahoo has recently exposed a mobile platform so outside programmers could develop fresh applications for Yahoo pages accessed on mobile phones. Yahoo expects the mini-applications, recognized as “widgets,” would certainly help attract more active users that would get the company more money from advertising.

Jerry Yang, a Yahoo co-founder who is now acting as a chief executive nearly seven months ago as part of the company’s turnaround efforts, talking about the changes Monday in an address at the International Consumer Electronics Show. “We’re dedicated to generating the most excellent and richest mobile experience for all consumers,” Yang said.
