NASDAQ Soaring – Yahoo in gain

The NASDAQ moved higher on Tuesday, in turn benefited by gains in shares of Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) just after a CNBC report that billionaire investor Carl Icahn is planning a launch of proxy fight at the Web search company.

Yahoo’s shares as well soared after a stockholder Eric Jackson, who too heads investment fund Ironfire Capital, stated he has canceled plans to run a proxy campaign to return fresh board members.

The stock jumped 3.7 percent to $26.19. The Dow Jones industrial average. DJI was down 45.84 points, or 0.36 percent, at 12,830.47. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index .SPX was down 0.13 points, or 0.01 percent, at 1,403.45. The NASDAQ Composite Index .IXIC was up 1.87 points, or 0.08 percent, at 2,490.36.

Carl Icahn accumulates 50 Million Yahoo Shares

Billionaire investor Carl Icahn had reportedly brought Yahoo Inc.’ stock possible for attempting to push aside the Internet giant’s board and get the company’s disappointed suitor, Microsoft Corp., back to bargain table. New product for YouTube to be launched soon by Google

Google is now expecting to launch a fresh product for YouTube Web Video service in few months from now. Now they also have a reason for good cooperation with Yahoo, Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt stated last week.

Schmidt also stated getting the video service to make money is actually the Web search company’s top precedence for the year. He didn’t disclose details of the products, anyhow, and they are not even in first, or beta, testing. Google in brief sold search advertisements on rival Yahoo previous month, while Microsoft was trying to obtain Yahoo 😉

Google Helps Myanmar Victims by starting Online Donation

Myanmar was hit by the destructive Cyclone Nargis previous week. Even though, the precise death toll is not yet surface, about one lakh people are predictable to have been killed in the disaster.

Internet giant Google has started an online donation campaign for Myanmar cyclone victims and has decided to provide up to $one million monetary help for the relief works. Google + Yahoo = Advertising Powerhouse

Microsoft might look for alternate deal

Microsoft Corp might now look for a mixture of deals after moving away from Yahoo Inc, but some would be complete enough to let it confront Google Inc’s power of online advertising. When Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer called off talks with Yahoo on Saturday soon after the Web Company discarded his $47.5 billion offer, he gave up what he and his investors saw as the best method to grow rapidly in marketing and online services to take on market head Google.

“Ultimately, our goal is to build the industry-leading business in search, online advertising, media, and social networking,” Ballmer wrote in a Saturday letter to employees, obtained by Reuters. “Although the acquisition of Yahoo would have accelerated our ability to deliver on our strategy in advertising and online services, I remain confident that we can achieve our goals without Yahoo,” Ballmer wrote.

Ballmer said Microsoft might go it unaided, but a likelier situation would be to use some of the hard cash it hanged in front of Yahoo to make lesser acquisitions or strike up partnerships.
