1. Make sure the site is hosted in UK.
2. If the domain is .uk or .co.uk its a big advantage its like telling the search engine directly that the site is a Uk site.
3. Get as much links from sites that are hosted in Uk
4. Get as much links from sites that link to sites that get links from other sites hosted in UK
5. Have a the copy of the pages as much relevant to the Uk and its regions as much as possible.
6. If you exchange links do it from sites with .co.uk extension or sites hosted in Uk.
7. Target UK only directories its best to tell search engines that the site is UK based.
8. List your site in UK category of Dmoz.
